Won Ton Dumplings in chilli sauce

•May 20, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Delicious Won Ton dumplings by a certain Domestic Goddess I know. Mushrooms, smoked cobbler & water chestnut were cooked and minced to make the dumpling stuffing. The Pak Choi and Cucumber in chilli sauce complete the dish. The chilli sauce was made by mixing spicy mango chutney with chilli oil. The wonton wrappers can be bought from any oriental supermarket.

This dish is quick and easy, assuming the tortellini has been bought pre-made. Boil it with Pak Choi and some stir fried tomatoes, onion, courgette and ginger. A perfectly quick and tasty meal for the busy scientist.

Rhubarb Custard - The first attempt

It turned out a bit weird in the end. I think it was the custard powder…

Rhubarb

This was my first experiment in making something with rhubarb. In order to save time and washing up, everything was done in one bowl in the microwave. First cut the rhubarb into little pieces and place in the bowl. Add a tablespoon on sugar and a sprinkling of water. Place in the microwave on high power for two minutes. Next, add a table spoon of custard powder and some milk. (Probably its better to mix these into a paste together first but I was too lazy). Cook for another two minutes. Finally add some cinnamon and granola and viola – Rhubarb Custard.
